Flea market (rastro) in Nerja

El Rastro flea market Nerja
If, like me, you´re always up for a bargain, you´ll love the Rastro market in Nerja. You can buy pretty much anything here, from clothes, to books, to furniture to jewellery.
There was also a creepy lady selling doped up puppies for ten euros. DON´T BUY THOSE! Though they were lovely, buying a puppy on a whim from a creepy lady is a recipe for disaster. Go to a shelter, they are overflowing these days, because it´s summer time and there´s a crisis.

There´s no food at this particular rastro, which I thought was odd, ´cause I probably wasn´t the only one gagging for coffee and a doughnut, but I guess that´s probably forbidden. There seems to be a crackdown on selling food on markets in Andalusia. Shame. I love food
.
The Rastro is, as far as I could tell, mostly a British thing. Spaniards scout around for bargains, but the stalls are generally managed by Brits and, of course, the Dutch. Market runs from around 8.00 til 13 every Sunday at Urbanización Flamingo (what a great name!).
Can´t get enough? On Tuesday there´s a “normal” market in town as well on Calle Almirante Ferrandiz.

Visiting Andalucia in a few weeks. Looking for flea markets and architectural salvage houses in the area for a hacienda-type home we are building in Arizona. Would apprecaite any suggestions.

there’s a flea market in Orgiva this weekend, I thought on the Sunday. And there’s a man who sells old doors in Portugos, that’s the first village after Pitres.
