Snowed in, Day 3: Ultimate relaxation

Little Town on the Prairie
I am on day 3 of being snowed in on top of my mountain, and you’d think I’d be getting restless. I have stuff to do! People to see! New yarn to pick up from the post office!
But there is something ultimately relaxing about having nowhere to go. As long as you have enough food and fuel of course, I had visions of The Little House on the prairie, when they all get snowed in and are starving and Almanzo has to drive his sledge out into the blizard to go look for a farmer who may have some grain…. Luckily, we have a nice stock of canned tuna, lentils and, o joy! Ferrero Rocher.

Also, I’ve gone into hibernation mode, sleeping 12, 14 hours a day. The most important part of my day is going out and getting more wood. Lots and lots more wood.

But other than that, there’s only the crackling fire, cups of tea and knitting. Oh, and Murder she wrote! Luckily, just before it started to snow, we got a delivery of dvd’s, including two seasons of ER and Murder she wrote. People wantng to get away from it all should just let themselves get snowed in: it’s very soothing.

Sounds great being snowed in! Ik wish I had the peace of mind to read or watch The Little House on the prairie… I watched an episode the other day with Johnny Cash in it as a no-good fake minister. Fortunately, Mary makes him see that it is better to do good than to steal, even if you are poor. Johnny even sang a song, sitting on a horse. But, to make my point, I didn’t manage to watch it all the time, I had to go about my household chores, thus missing most of how the good people of the sleepy village managed to amass enough food and goods to save a thousand poor people….
