Hotel Morisca Granada – Yay! (if you can find it…)

Our view of the Alhambra

Our view of the Alhambra

What a difference a hotel makes!
After our previous stay in Granada we didn’t get what al the fuss was about. A rather drab, grubby and depressing city where all the houses appear to be for sale and most businesses seemed to be cosing down. Not somewhere we’d go again in a hurry.
Then again, it is rather convenient, at a distance of exactly an hour from our doorstep and there are Rebajas at El Corte Ingles….

Alhambra
So here we are again, but at twice the price and yes, you do get what you pay for. A room with a view of the Alhambra! (well, to be honest, you do have to lean out of the window, but still, the view is stunning!) Nice people, lovely atmosphere, a bit of a frugal breakfast (but we may just have been way too late), comfy beds and, oh joy, BBC Prime! We happily watched Judge John Deed last night and this morning Living in the sun….

PIG
Yes there are some downsides: the hotel is in a lovely area, down the mountain from the Ahambra, near the river, wth lots of bars and restaurants, but it was an absolute pig to find. Even with the combined forces of our navigation system, a map and phoning the hotel we still ended up in a tiny one way street up a steep mountain. And then I had to drive down again. Backwards. It took a huge g&t to hose me down after that. However, when you aim for Plaza Nueva you should be ok, but they really should provide driving instructons. Also, there is no wifi in your room. I don’t know why hotels always say there is when they, too, can easily see that it’s simply not true. At all.
However, there’s a comfy breakfast room and a newspaper rom where you an sit and work. And they have English papers as well!
