Ubeda

Table of contents for Places to stay

  1. Ubeda
  2. Miranda do Ebro

Last stop before we reached our destination was the village of Ubeda. We wanted a cute little country side inn and La Caseria de Tito fit the bill. Only problem was food. Again thwarted by the evil month of february when apparently all restaurants in France and Spain grind to a halt. In the end we had to risk our lives to cross a highway and then sat waiting for two hours under the inhospitable scrutiny of the short balding bartender until the cook arrived.

Had lovely conejo con ajo (rabbit with garlic), the smell of which haunted us for days. (that, and discovering part of the head, including teeth, on the plate)(I came very, very close to becoming a vegetarian after that!)

Anyway, The Caseria de Tito is a lovely place, run by a sweethusband and wife team that wants you to feel at home. We nestled in front of a crackling fire and dosed for a bit, then had an good night’s sleep and an excelent breakfast. Highly recommended! http://www.lacaseriadetito.com/

From Miranda do Ebro we drove down to Torres. Lovely place in the mountains, but in February it gets eerily quiet in these parts and we turned out to be the only guests in a huge hotel, in the middle of nowhere, in the mountains. The shining, anyone?

After dinner, alone again in the vast dining room, wslept like kings. AFter barricading the door, because you never know what kind of zombies might be lurking out there….
